Achieving Meaningful Purpose

“Adapt. Evolve. Emerge.” - Kristin Hagen

The American College of Medical Scribe Specialists (ACMSS™) provides certification, credentialing, and Continuing Medical Education on building America’s revolutionary 21st century clinical care teams. ACMSS™, a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization, also offers a customized suite of services, including individualized consulting and implementation, public speaking, and certification packages across all medical specialties and the greater health care enterprise. ACMSS™ focuses on meaningful utilization of Certified Electronic Health Records Technology (CEHRT) and benefit of evidence-based integrative medicine and care structured into clinical care practices. ACMSS™ educated Certified Medical Scribe Specialists (CMSS) are holistically trained in evidence-based integrative medicine, functional medicine, and precision medicine to the clinical assistant level of the credential, creating a modern Biblically-recognized professional known as the Certified Medical Scribe Specialist. A Certified Medical Scribe Specialist (CMSS™) is a licensed clinical assistant to the physician, a member of the allied health care team who provides clinical documentation expertise and clinical assistance. Licensed Certified Medical Scribe Specialists (CMSS™) are 21st century personnel, creating the wave of the future. Licensed Certified Medical Scribe Specialists are engaged in dialogue with the clinicians throughout the clinical encounter in order to complete the individual’s health record. They also perform many other tasks such as directing people and setting up procedure trays, which help improve medical practice efficiencies. Licensed Certified Medical Scribe Specialists are hybrid, utilizing a blend of clinical and clinical informatics skill sets. The CMSS™ licensure allows for clinical advancement. The CMSS™ licensure sets the minimum bar across health care, as set by law, and is held in compliance through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), going far beyond traditional levels of care.

Kristin works in close relationship with the American College of Medical Scribe Specialists (ACMSS™), the organization that licenses Certified Medical Scribe Specialists (CMSS™)—assisting its growth, standardization, innovation, and adoption across America. The medical scribe industry has exploded in growth under the regulatory requirements and changes affecting health records. The CMSS™ work relationship is a familiar experience to medical providers who were initiated as medical students who learned to work with interns, who, likewise, learned to work with residents, who, likewise, learned to work with attending physicians. However, there is a major difference. Licensed Certified Medical Scribe Specialists (CMSS™) are highly specialized, highly engaged hands-on personal clinical assistants to the licensed clinician. Notwithstanding the differences, licensed Certified Medical Scribe Specialists learn a great deal of clinical medicine simply by witnessing and documenting the clinician’s interaction with people. The licensure of Certified Medical Scribe Specialists (CMSS™) credential is well-suited for the next generation of 21st-century clinical care professionals. Licensed as a Certified Medical Scribe Specialist (CMSS™) is both an art and a science, utilizing clinical personnel and clinical documentation through Certified Electronic Health Records Technology to actively design the US Healthcare System through appropriately licensed and credentialed CMSS™ personnel.
